John T. Fodor, Ed. D.
Professor Emeritus of Health Science
California State University Northridge

Dr. Fodor received his doctorate from UCLA. He is recognized nationally and internationally as a health promotion and health education authority. During his 50 years of professional experience he has served as:

  • Professor, Director of Health Education and Co-Director of the Health Science Research Center, Department of Health Science, California State University Northridge
  • Co-Director, Health Research Associates, Northridge, California
  • Project Director: International Demonstration Project. “The Use of selected Computer and Other Appropriate Technologies to Facilitate Health Promotion and Education,” (In cooperation with the International Union for Health Promotion and Education, the Netherlands Institute for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, the Center for Health Education, L. A. County Office of Education, and the University of Idaho.
  • In-House Health Education Consultant, Asia Capital Public Health, Los Angeles, California
  • Special Visiting Professor, Department of Health Education, Tsukuba University, Tsukuba, Japan
  • Health Education Consultant and Advisor to Nepal for the World Health Organization
  • Lecturer in Health Education, UCLA School of Public Health

  • Author and co-author of numerous books on health promotion and education, including the Framework for Health Education in California Public Schools, California Dept of Ed; Several university textbooks, including Health Instruction: Theory and Application, (4 editions) Lea & Febiger, Health Instruction: Theory and Application, Fifth Edition, Williams and Wilkins;Health Instruction: Theory and Application for Community, School, Health Care and Workplace Settings, Kendal/Hunt,  A high school health textbook, Making Health Decisions, Prentice Hall; Three sets of elementary school health textbooks (24 books), for grades 1 through 8; Good Health For You, Keeping Healthy and A Healthier You, Laidlaw.

Current publications include: Maintaining Your Health and Vitality, (2007), Co-author, Health Instruction in Schools (2010), A university textbook.

Dr. Fodor also serves as a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Global Health Promotion, a quarterly publication of the International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE). He also is a member of the Editorial Board, NARO News - North America Regional Office of  the IUHPE; reviews and submits  articles for the NARO NEWS.
